The Art of Fitting Into an Old Dress – Paleo/Crossfit-style

February 11, 2012

Two weeks ago I found my old ball gowns in the back of a cupboard. In the 90s I had a social life, I went to Balls and parties, had lots of friends to hang out with, but didn’t have much money to go shopping with. Instead I made my own ballgowns with the help of a wonderful lady named Barbara Swann (hats off to you Barbs). Each dress held special memories for me and I’d put them away carefully hoping one day I could wear them again when I had a social life again…(kids aren’t conducive to going out).

I’d actually thought I’d thrown these dresses out accidentally a few years ago so imagine my delight when I found them again!

This morning for a dare I tried one on. Just to see how much I have to go to get my old self back!

(by the way don’t take photos of yourself at 6am in the morning – no makeup/moisturiser- just not a great start).

I have not fit into this dress since 2000.

That’s right. 12 years!

12 whole years I’ve spent trying to have children, having children, ballooning up to someone I didn’t recoginse in the mirror.

And now? Now I’m getting my mojo back! And it feels great. I am improving on my pull ups (still band assisted but we’ll get there). My double unders are getting better, I can do about 18, but not all continuous. My health is improving day by day.

I feel great.

I wish I’d started this a long time ago. But can’t turn back the clock, just have to move forward and focus on the things that are important.

My shopping trolley is full of fresh fruit and veges, meats and eggs. Very little processed foods. It always causes a comment from the checkout operators when I pass through. I’m loving what this is doing for myself and my family.
