A Fist Full of Jerky!

I’m a tad excited, just bought a “really good” food dehydrator. I’ve been umming and ahhing over the decision, should I buy one, will we use it? What if I buy it and it ends up on top of the cupboard with all the other ‘gadgets’ we’ve accumulated over the years?

But hubby reassured me that home made beef jerky will save me a lot of money. At the moment I’ve been splurging just a little on Biltong (it’s $75/kg) here and there. I love it, but yes it is expensive. This way I can make my own and also dry in season fruit for school lunches, and make fruit roll-ups (which the kids love). It’s a win-win situation!

I’ve now started searching for jerky recipes, most have massive amounts of soy sauce, which we’ll have to change. Looking for wheat-free alternatives to soy sauce is a little bit difficult. But it’ll be worth it.

If anyone has a great wheat/dairy free recipe for jerky I’d love to read it.
